About: After studying Spanish and Business at Indiana University, Rich found himself managing a restaurant in Costa Rica ( it was that or go back to home to Indiana). He didn’t enjoy coming home every night smelling like a restaurant, and he swore that he would never work in one again.
These days, Rich can be found around Chicago working to bring you quality delivery restaurants to GrubHub.com so that you can enjoy a great meal at home. At the same time, he helps restaurants get new customers and more delivery business from hungry people like you who use GrubHub to find and order delivery.
Although he no longer works in a restaurant per se, he spends enough time in them to still smell like one when he gets home.
Favorite Foods: I’m not a foodie, but I love to eat. My first love is sandwiches, but I feel lucky to live in a city with so much great Thai food. I’m also on a quest to find Chicago’s best burrito that will continue as long as it takes.
Worst Delivery Experience: I ordered late-night pizza online during one of the coldest nights of the year. Like half of Chicago, my buzzer was broken so in the Special Instructions I asked that the delivery driver call my cell phone.
On a night like that delivery can take a while, so I wasn’t worried when my pizza didn’t show up right away. But after waiting and waiting, I picked up the phone to call the restaurant and check on my order only to discover my phone was dead.
I could hear a faint pounding sound coming from the front door of my building downstairs. I ran down and found the delivery guy absolutely furious and freezing cold. It was totally my fault and I felt terrible about it so I gave him a huge tip. I went upstairs and started in on my pizza (which by then was totally cold), and listened to the voicemails the delivery guy had left me letting me know exactly how he felt about me and how much he appreciated standing in the cold.
