It had to happen eventually, although maybe this means I’m good for the rest of the season: I have a cold this week. And upon answering the question of WWBD (What Would Beyonce Do), I realized an independent woman like myself only needed one friend to get me through this: Seamless.
Here, in order, is everything I’ve ordered since diagnosing myself with a cold, yesterday:
The holy grail of sick soups. Extra chili peppers help to clear sinuses, while the salty broth promotes much-needed hydration. Throw in some beef or chicken or extra veggies, and it’s downright nutritious.
2. Ice Cream
An underrated sickday treat. Soothes the sore throat. Easy on the stomach. Easy to eat when any effort at all is exhausting. All-around win.
Try to stay clear of anything caffeinated, but there’s bonus points for adding lemon, honey, and a little bourbon at home for a hot toddy.
Something with Vitamin C is a good place to start – kiwi, oranges, strawberries. Anything with “immunity” in it will probably work here, so get your fruit on.
Did you know you can order these from delis around the area? They’re a lifesaver during the worst part of the cold and/or end of The Notebook.
