In case you haven’t noticed, we’re kind of crazy about food so it would follow suit that we love movies about food and chefs too! Good thing for us there are so many great ones out there. From foreign films to black and white classics to modern blockbusters, here are a few of our favorite foodie flicks.
This movie follows the path of two friends on a road trip through California’s wine country. It’s the perfect setting for a movie about enjoying fine wines and awesome food. Paul Giametti’s obsession with the art of wine tasting steals the show. While watching this flick, order something with a fresh, Californian influence!
Chocolat is the story of a young mother who turns up in a small French village and opens up a small chocolaterie, which ends up stirring the pot, as they say. The lives of the townspeople are all greatly impacted by the luxurious chocolate she creates and we get to see the magical things a seasoned chef can do with a few simple ingredients. Try ordering something sweet from Chikalicious Dessert Club for this one!
A Pixar movie about a cute, food-obsessed rat that dreams of becoming a famous French chef and lands himself in the kitchen of his culinary idol, Auguste Gusteau. What’s not to love about this movie? You might consider ordering up a savory French dish like chicken paillard to go with this animated goodie!
The scenes in this movie shift between a portrayal of Julia Child as her career was just kicking off and a modern day memoirist (named Julie) who aspires to cook her way through Julia’s famous cookbook, Mastering The Art of French Cooking. There is a lot to be learned from this film, not least of which is to enjoy a good meal as well as Meryl Streep does! Why not find one of Julia’s favorites on Seamless and eat while you watch?
We had to include this one if only for the wonderful cooking scenes in which Catherine Zeta-Jones whips up intricate sauces, seasons soups and roasts vegetables to perfection. You’ll be drooling by the end! A good meal to pair with this might be something with a buttery, French sauce, like a Bearnaise or Hollandaise.
