Delivery food often gets a bad rap for being unhealthy and “lazy.” But you know what? It is absolutely possible to maintain a healthy diet while ordering food online for delivery. On Seamless, we have hundreds of restaurants serving up healthy cuisine, and many of our restaurant partners even provide you with calorie counts on their dishes. As an example for you, I took the plunge and went healthy for lunch.
I roped in my office-mate Jocelyn and we ordered up a healthy feast from Blossom Du Jour in Hell’s Kitchen. This restaurant is new to Seamless and we were very excited to try it out. While I’m not all about the vegan, gluten-free situation that is apparently all the rage, I am willing to go the extra mile in healthy ordering just for you,our Seamless Eaters. Jocelyn ordered the Karmic Kale Salad and I went with the BDJ Buffalo Wrap. We also sprung for a side of Onion Rings and a Heartbeat Juice. So, how was it?
Jocelyn really enjoyed her Karmic Kale Salad. It was made with olive oil and sea salt rubbed kale, pumpkin seeds, cranberries, carrots, lemon drizzle. The pumpkin seeds, cranberries, and dressing were all packed separately in little cup containers, which was great because you can add in as many or as little additions as you wanted. Because the kale was rubbed in sea salt and olive oil, it was not only super flavorful, but it was also softer and easier to eat than an average raw kale salad. Overall Jocelyn really loved this salad and will order it again!
My BDJ Buffalo Wrap was really flavorful and delicious. It was made with un-chicken tenders, carrots, tomato, Buffalo sauce, ranch dressing, lettuce and tomato. Now, I’m not entirely sure what “un-chicken” is, but I can tell you that it wasn’t bad! It didn’t taste like chicken, but it didn’t taste gross either! The flavor that came out the most was the Buffalo sauce and it had a really nice kick to it. The wrap was easy to eat and definitely filling. I recommend.
The side of onion rings were a super nice addition. There were actual onions in there and the crusty coating was crispy and had a delicious rosemary flavor. The wild card of my order was the Heartbeat Juice. I’m not a “juice person” and don’t do the cleanses or the juicing that the people love, but I was game. The Heartbeat Juice was a blend of carrot, apple, and ginger. And it tasted exactly like that. It was sweet, but not too sweet. And it felt healthy. I felt juiced.
In conclusion, Blossom Du Jour is a fantastic option for those keeping up with the vegan and vegetarian diet. It is absolutely possible to eat healthy and feel good about what you’re ordering for delivery on Seamless.
