Cafe Metro has been an NYC midtown staple for years. Feeding hungry office workers for breakfast, lunch, dinner and every snack in between. They are known to be a solid spot with a variety of delicious offerings. With eight locations, the Cafe Metros of NYC are dependable for good food delivered fast. But, is the food tasty? Well we sought out on a quest to find out.
For the order today, I roped in two folks from Seamless’ Partner Relations team, Kyle and Russell. Cafe Metro has recently rolled out a new Sandwich of the Month program. So on top of their great “make your own” sandwiches, they’ve cooked up an awesome monthly combo. Kyle decided to test out this month’s feature — the 7 Spiced Chicken Sandwich. Russell went all out on his lunch order with an order of Stuffed Lemon Sole with a side of Spanish Rice and String Beans. I myself opted for a featured Aegean Shrimp Salad and a side of Lemon Chickpea Salad (going salad crazzzy!). So how did it all taste?
Cafe Metro on Seventh Avenue delivered to Seamless HQ in about 25 minutes — Super fast! Kyle’s SOM (Sandwich of the Month) 7 Spice Chicken Sandwich was very tasty. This take on a chicken sandwich made with Sambal Aioli, Cilantro, Cabbage Kimchi and Chopped Peanuts. It had a lot of heat without being overly spicy and the bread was soft and delicious! The tender chicken was complimented by delightfully crunchy Kimchi. It left Kyle full but not stuffed, which is perfect for lunch.
Russell’s Lemon Stuffed Sole was a real delight as well. The stuffing was made with a delicious vegetable mixture. While the dish was not quite as “lemon-y” as the name would suggest, it was prepared very close to a fish entree that you’d order from a traditional seafood restaurant. The sides of veggies and rice were also very nicely cooked.
My duo of salads was pretty great. The Aegean Shrimp Salad was packed with romaine lettuce, herb grilled shrimp, tomatoes, red onions, cucumbers, feta cheese, and kalamata olives and dressed in red wine vinegar and EVOO. While I sometimes shy away from ordering shrimp or seafood in a salad, the idea of herb shrimp called out to me on this day for some reason. I was happy. The romaine lettuce was cut quite large and was super crunchy. While red onion can be a bit obnoxious at times, I was certainly pleased with the savory and tang that the onions provided. The lemon-y chickpeas were also great. I was happy to have an additional side and thought it was a great accompaniment to my salad.
Overall, a Cafe Metro order is definitely recommended by the folks here at Seamless HQ. From muffins to salads, noodles to soups, the variety at Cafe Metro is outstanding.
