Osteria Laguna popped up on our radar two weeks ago when its Spaghetti con Polpette Alla Tre Carni was most liked in all of SeamlessWeb Land. Given its close proximity to our office, we knew we had to try it. Sometimes Italian can be a bit heavy for lunch, but with this never ending cold snap hitting the Northeast, we knew we could handle it. From sandwiches to pastas to pizzas, the delicious possibilities of this menu were nearly limitless. After debating between the Focaccia Alla Robiola sandwich (because COME ON!) and the Pizza Quattro Stagioni, I decided to stick with pizza. Rich went with a classic pasta dish, Pappardelle con Ragu D’Agnello (braised lamb ragu).
Our meals came quickly, which was lucky for our starving bellies.
Our food was warm so there was no need to reheat (always a plus on cold days). My pizza was split up into four sections each with different toppings: Mushrooms, artichokes, ham and olives. I enjoyed that each section had its own character and I could take bites of whichever. The ham added a nice salty quality as did the olives. My favorite section by far was the mushrooms. They seemed to be marinated and sauteed beforehand, which gave them quite amazing flavor and they were a fantastic addition to the fresh cheese. The pizza was a thin-crust, which I tend to enjoy, and it was chewy and salty and tasty. Overall, this dish is highly recommended (by me).
Right out of the plasticware, Rich’s pasta looked delicious and dare I say it… rich. With a thick and creamy sauce packed with tons of flavor, he definitely ordered well. The pasta was fresh and prepared perfectly al dente. The lamb in the ragu was soft and tender providing great texture to an overall wonderful dish.
Another wonderful plus to Osteria Laguna, is the focaccia and biscotti that accompanied our meal in sweet little packages. This was icing on the cake to an overall delicious lunch. Both Rich and I highly recommend this classic Italian restaurant for a filling and satisfying lunch or dinner.
