As GrubHub roars into its eighth summer in operation, we thought we would take the opportunity to put together a quick overview of the more major goings-on from the first half of the year. They were…numerous.
Like that time we folded Campusfood into GrubHub? Adding cities, restaurants and features from Campusfood so that the same GrubHub magic could be experienced by even more people in more places? That happened, it’s true.
Or that time we introduced OrderHub? Big. It’s a tablet device that makes it easier
for restaurants to process their orders in a faster, more efficient way. The technology part doesn’t mean a lot to you if you’re not a restaurant owner, but it should. OrderHub in a restaurant will trickle down [insert Reaganomics joke here] into faster, more efficient service from that restaurant.
And then there was that time that we took a cue from 2003 and shed the .com from our logo. No one bothered to notice, so we’ll take that as a sign that we made the right move. Plus, as you may have heard, mobile is a large chunk of the future. No need to bring ye olde .com along with us.
Speaking of mobile, we didn’t rest on our laurels there, either. We added a handful of features to our app, not the least of which is Yummy Rummy. That’s right – it’s there, and it’s spectacular. Same great odds of winning, same ridiculous premise, same sugary highs and consolation lows.
Of course, that’s not all we did. There are plenty of smaller things that happened that will make your life better (e.g., our CEO’s stylin’ new ‘do) and there are a bunch of enormous things happening that we’re not going to talk about right now (e.g., delivery by catcopter). Suffice it to say it’s been a great six months, but it’s going to be an even better next six months. Stay tuned and keep eating.
