SeamlessWeb’s Boston Member of the Week Profile: Emily
Every week, we ask a different SeamlessWeb member questions about ordering food online, food in general, and other fun topics. This week we have Emily, a school teacher spreading the gospel of SeamlessWeb across the United States…
Occupation: Kindergarten teacher at Edward Brooke Charter School in Boston
How and When Did You Discover SeamlessWeb? One of my very best friends, Samantha, started working at SeamlessWeb a few years ago. I was excited for her, but the name Seamless confused me (I was living in LA at the time where no one knows SeamlessWeb…yet!) I thought she worked at a software company for a little while. (Ed. note: Common misconception…) When I was back home on the east coast and had been deprived of good pizza for years I gave Seamless a shot. With a few clicks on my computer a real pizza showed up at my door and now I’m hooked!
Where Do You Use SW? I use SW at home, at work and on my phone in between.
Favorite Kind of Food: These days, I think this sounds cliché, but I really love sushi. I also love every food that you would find at a barbeque in the summer (minus the BBQ sauce).
Least Favorite Kind of Food: I got food poisoning once from turkey and have never eaten it again. This was disappointing because turkey used to be my favorite food, but now I can’t even think about it. And I hate BBQ sauce.
Favorite Place(s) to Order From on SW? Late night pizza from Pino’s in Cleveland Circle.
Least Favorite Thing About Calling Restaurants? Honestly my least favorite thing about calling restaurants has less to do with the restaurant and more to do with my cell phone. My phone has horrible service and if I am in the car or doing anything besides standing still I talk in fear that the call is going to disconnect. It’s somewhat fine with understanding friends, but the call back to the restaurant is always uncomfortable. The worst is when I get disconnected again in the second call. (Ed. note: SeamlessWeb – Avoiding awkward situations since 1999.)
Closest Previous Brush with Internet Fame? I just got Twitter. I haven’t actually figured out how to use it yet (I know, I’m behind the times) but I friended all of the Red Sox and Celtics players that I could find, so I think according to six degrees of separation that makes me famous. (Ed. note: Absolutely!)
Favorite Celebrity Chef? I spend most Saturday and Sunday mornings watching Food Network. I wake up around 7am and go to cooking school on my couch for a few hours. Then I spend the rest of the day pretending I am Giada de Laurentiis. I have tried almost all of her recipes. I guess this isn’t a fair answer because I have never actually tasted her food (someday!!!) but I just love her.
Favorite Cartoon Growing Up? Everything on One Saturday Morning. Illuminating television!
What Superpower Do You Wish You Had? On Heroes there was someone who could watch another person do something and then they could do it. It even worked if they just saw something on TV. I think that would be pretty cool. I could watch Superman and learn to fly and I’d watch The Secret World of Alex Mac and I’d turn into goo and go under doors. I’d pretty much have every power.
In the Past Year, What’s the Latest You’ve Stayed Up and Why? I wish I had a good answer to this question, but unfortunately I don’t. This weekend I’ll aim for 4am doing something ridiculous.
Plans for Tonight? I am flying to San Francisco for a family vacation slash celebrating the end of the school year and summer vacation (gotta love being a teacher!). Plus, I promise to shamelessly plug SeamlessWeb San Fran every chance I get. (Ed. note: She is not being paid to say this!)
