SeamlessWeb’s NYC Member of the Week Profile: Paul
Every week, we ask a different SeamlessWeb member questions about ordering food online, food in general, and other fun topics. This week we have Paul, a marketing manager and self-professed “Fast Foodie”!
Occupation: Consumer Marketing Manager
How and When Did You Discover SeamlessWeb? 3 years ago when I started my current job. One of my coworkers was like “ugh, it’s raining. I’m ordering lunch off Seamless”. My life was irrevocably changed that day. It was very much a startup environment, so naturally we all worked long hours and rarely stepped outside the office. It was such a boon!
Where Do You Use SW? Mostly work, but sometimes at home. There’s not a ton of restaurants on SW in Prospect Heights, Brooklyn – but I make due. (Ed: We’re working on it. Here’s a rundown of local restaurants in Prospect Heights and don’t hesitate to recommend more!)
Favorite Kind of Food: Hm, that’s a tough one. I’d say “all of it”, but that’s just a cop-out. I’m gonna go with Fast Food – burgers and fries – mostly cos I like to consider myself a fast foodie. When I backpacked through Europe after college I made a point to visit some fast food chain in every country. (Sidebar: France’s burger chain “Quick” should be avoided, in my opinion.) Also, PIZZA. (Ed: We think that ultimately anyone who is completely honest will probably say pizza.)
Least Favorite Kind of Food: Salad, or anything that requires utensils other than chopsticks.
Favorite Place(s) to Order From on SW? Tue Thai Food – delicious! Their Pad See Ew lunch special completes me.
Least Favorite Thing About Calling Restaurants? Human interaction. Just kidding. But I hate having to give my address and credit card info over and over again. I pretty much call the same few places every week and talk to the same people – it’s nice when they’re like “oh, it’s you!”
Closest Previous Brush with Internet Fame? I was at a Patrick Wolf show at the Black Cat in DC and somebody from Spin.com asked me about his music. Full disclosure, I’m not a huge fan, but I answered anyway – especially once I saw the camera come out! (I’m the super pale dude in the blue plaid shirt, but it looks like they took our responses off)
Favorite Celebrity Chef? Nigella Lawson – she’s gorgeous, healthy-looking and I feel like she’d be really cool to hang out with (aka, listen to her as she makes me food and then eat said food).
Favorite Cartoon Growing Up? I loved (and still do) the 90s Batman series. The art direction and style is sooo good. Plus, they basically created Harley Quinn and she’s badass.
What Superpower Do You Wish You Had? I wish I could fly. Mostly cos I’m impatient, so it’d be cool to just fly over traffic and crowds and stuff. Oh, and to be free. Like a bird. Like a freebird.
In the Past Year, What’s the Latest You’ve Stayed Up and Why? New Year’s Eve, I guess… I dunno, I’m pretty boring when it comes to that stuff. I love sleep, so I go to bed at a reasonable hour (between midnight and 1 am) most nights. My partner hates that about me, but I get cranky without my precious sleep.
Plans for Tonight? Hopefully watching some lucha libre and seeing Davila 666 – fer FREE! If that falls through, then eating copious amounts of fish tacos. Or both?! (Ed: Sounds like a great Cinco!)
