Seamless has some of the best fans in the world. They stand by us during the hangriest of times and come to us to feed them day in and day out. This is a weekly feature where we highlight one of our proudest and most awesome Seamlessers. This week, we have Jan who has no patience for bland food.
First Name: Jan
Occupation: Digital Marketing & Social Media at MTV Networks/LogoTV.
How and When Did You Discover Seamless? Seamless came into my life when I moved to NYC five years ago. My friend introduced me when I was craving a hot dog one evening. It was pouring out and there was nothing in the fridge but a box of wine. You can say the rest is history. This has been my longest and most steady relationship. To this day Seamless continues to leave me completely satisfied.
Where Do You Use Seamless? Where do I not use Seamless? From my office to my apartment, I use Seamless everywhere. There have been several times when I’ve planned out what I’d have for dinner in the subway and ordered immediately through Seamless once I got out.
Favorite Kind of Food: I will always and forever love Asian food. Whether it is Japanese, Indian, Chinese, Thai, Korean, Vietnamese, etc. I will eat everything and be really happy afterwards. I love Niu Rou Main, Banh Mi, pork buns, dosas, kimchi pajeon… the list is endless. I think it’s because for me it’s the ultimate comfort food.
Least Favorite Kind of Food: I can’t pick a cuisine that is my least favorite but I can say that I have no patience for bland food. If there is one thing I’ve learned for all the reality cook shows like Top Chef it’s this: Seasoning is important! Don’t be afraid of a little salt-n-pepa!
Favorite Places to Order From on Seamless? Oh, there are so many! For pizza, order from Ray’s Pizza. They are simply the best. When I used to work in the Flatiron district, I would always order lunch from Eisenberg’s. I love me a good sandwich and Eisenberg’s is a New York staple! Of all the Thai restaurants in New York, I always go back to Pure Thai Cookhouse in Hell’s Kitchen. They have the best Thai noodle soups (and curry puffs). What about Chinese? Go to Mee Noodle Shop. Their food reminds me of home and my mom’s cooking! Finally, there’s only one place I order burgers from and that’s Lucky’s.
What’s your record for orders placed on Seamless in a 24-hour period? Lawd have mercy. Can I plead the fifth on this one? It has got to be at least four times: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner and Late-Night snack.
If you had to eat food one for 30 days in a row, what would that be? Ramen. I would eat bowls and bowls of ramen. Not just one bowl per day. I would eat multiple. Mind you, I’m not talking about instant noodles. I’m talking about the real deal: miso broth, bean sprouts, seasoned hardboiled egg, onion, pork belly and scallions. I would pass out after a bowl and wake up for the next round.
Least Favorite Thing About Calling Restaurants? The most frustrating thing has to be getting the delivery and discovering that the order is wrong. The sad thing is that most of the time I’m too hungry to do anything about it and end up eating whatever was sent. It definitely puts a whole new meaning to eating your emotions.
Favorite Celebrity Chef? Jun Tanaka. Oh Jun! I could spend all day listening to him speak, watching him cook, and eating his food. It also doesn’t hurt that he’s not bad on the eyes, okaaaay?
What Superpower Do You Wish You Had? Geek alert! Growing up I collected Marvel cards, comic books and watched the X-Men Animated Series every Saturday morning. I would pretend to have superpowers but could never decide on what it’d be. Thinking about it now… I still have trouble! I guess it’d have to be teleportation. I wish I could travel more but money and finding time is always an issue. Being able to just teleport myself from one paradise to another would definitely be amazing.
