Every week, a different SeamlessWeb customer tells us about how he or she orders from the site. This week it’s Alyssa, the consumer tech publicist and SeamlessWeb evangelist:
First Name: Alyssa
Occupation: Consumer tech publicist
How and When Did You Discover SeamlessWeb? I feel like I’ve always known about it – maybe it was in my welcome packet when I moved to New York six years ago. You know, the one that tells you not to make eye contact with people on the street holding clipboards and teaches you how to pronounce “Houston Street.” What do you mean, you didn’t get one of those? (Ed: Ours must have been lost in the mail…)
Where Do You Use SW? Mostly in my tiny East Village bedroom that’s only slightly larger than an Alcatraz jail cell (I’m not even exaggerating, I looked it up) (Ed: Eeks!)
Favorite Kind of Food: Anything that will increase my cholesterol – macaroni and cheese, nachos and cheeseburgers are my holy trinity. I also like sushi and pad thai now that my taste buds are getting fancier and more worldly.
Least Favorite Kind of Food: Ethiopian. I’m pretty sure the bread is made from a foam mattress pad that was run over by a steamroller.
Favorite Place(s) to Order From on SW? I’m a creature of habit, so I order sushi from Ashiya in the East Village at least a few times a week. Although it sort of hurts my feelings that the delivery man has never said a single word and practically throws the bag of food at me, I just can’t quit their Sandobe Roll. (Ed: We’ve all been there.)
Least Favorite Thing About Calling Restaurants? Trying to get cell phone service in my first-floor apartment with a scenic view of the brick wall of the building next door.
Closest Previous Brush with Internet Fame? Shaq replied to me on Twitter once. Oh, and I got kicked off the Adweek 25 list of recommended media industry people for tweeting about my love for SeamlessWeb too often.
Favorite Celebrity Chef? Paula Deen. The fact that she hasn’t died of heart failure yet, considering the simultaneously disgusting and delicious recipes she concocts, is an inspiration to me. I also thought she handled that ham to the face very gracefully. (Ed: Agreed. She’s a real trooper.)
Favorite Cartoon Growing Up? When I was 11, so many people kept telling me I reminded them of Daria that I had to start watching the show. I’m not sure I would have survived middle school without it.
What Superpower Do You Wish You Had? The power to read people’s minds. Mostly so I could find out why my sushi delivery man hates me so much. I even tip him extra!
In the Past Year, What’s the Latest You’ve Stayed Up and Why? Probably about 5 a.m., because New York City bars close at 4! Sometimes I kind of wish they’d shut down a little earlier so I could get home at a more reasonable hour without missing out on the fun.
Plans for Tonight? My Thursdays recently have run the gamut from hate-watching Jersey Shore with my best friend Kate to starring in an impromptu photo shoot on the hood of a pickup truck painted with eyeballs and flames. I never know what adventures I’ll get into. (Ed: Sounds crazy. Let us know if you ever wanna hang out!)
