The Daily Grub

You know it’s going to be a good day at work when you walk into the office and the smell of butter cooking over a hot stove is wafting through the air. To my delight and the delight of all my office mates, we had the good fortune of being treated to ready-to-order omelets this morning from Chef Brian Awesomeness, a.k.a “P-Cake.”

Like a scene from a Top Chef challenge, our Rock Band/conference room was transformed into a mini kitchen this morning. With his portable gas stove and bowls of finely chopped sides — broccoli, onion, mushroom, red and yellow bell peppers, bacon, cheese and spinach — neatly lined along the conference table, P-Cake was mixing and flipping some of the best damn omelets I’ve ever eaten.

This is what I call an urban kitchen.

P-Cake earned his nickname for churning out some legendary potato pancakes at Glenn’s Dinner on Montrose. And let me tell you, these are the kind of potato pancakes you dream about for days after eating — at least I do.

Wednesday’s are big days around the office for technology releases and Cat, our technology project maven, rocks at keeping everyone’s brains well fueled. Cat’s also the brainchild behind the watermelon soup that was served up during another technology release a few weeks back.

What can I say; Wednesday’s have now become my new favorite day of the week. From all of us here at the GrubHub.com office, THANK YOU P-Cake for your awesome omelets! Now how are we going to top next Wednesday?
