Here at Grubhub, our employees are pretty obsessed with food. Every day, we’re making sure delicious food finds its way to your door….and to ours. Say what? Correct, we too order from Grubhub (so meta).
With our “What I Ate in a Week” series, you’ll get a sneak peek into the lives of actual — never not hungry — Grubhub team members. A nice benefit that happens to come with our jobs is what we call “mealperks” — our weekly Grubhub stipend. Clearly, we’re using this to get the best bites in town each and every week.
On deck, we have: Katie, a Senior Associate on our Brand Marketing team. Get the lowdown on her delivery highlights of the week and top ordering hacks.
Let’s meet Katie.
Hey guys! My name is Katie. I currently live in Chicago, but I’m originally from Kansas City. I’m married to an orthopedic surgery resident, so Grubhub is usually our emergency dinner of choice for his crazy schedule. When it comes to food, I can’t get enough of gnocchi (especially the homemade variety), fresh berries, and burrata. I love all art, good design and nice people.
And here are my top delivery eats from last week…
Dosas from Art of Dosa
Dosas are like an Indian crepe filled with delicious spices and a perfect combination of flavors. Nothing beats getting them delivered quickly on a frigid December day. Major plus–the condiments at Art of Dosa are plentiful (and flavorful), so you can try out different chutneys with your dosas.
Brussels Sprout Toast and Side Green Salad from Nico Osteria
When I really want to splurge, I order the brussels sprout toast from Nico Osteria. Not only is it so delicious and filling…it’s beautiful, too. There are so many delicate shades of green, accompanied by creamy white cheese. The side salad is one of my favorite salads in Chicago. (And trust me, I would know…I order a different one nearly every week!)
Garden of Eden from The Mixx
Growing up in Kansas City, the Garden of Eden salad at The Mixx was a lunchtime staple. When I could go off campus senior year of high school for lunch, I was often found at the Mixx, eating this salad. So when I went back to visit my family last week, I was hankering for some nostalgia and ordered the Garden of Eden salad for pick up. The tartness of the granny smith apples mixed with the sweet champagne-honey vinaigrette and candied pecans makes this the most refreshing, crisp and satisfying salad!
Bagels on Saturday morning from Einstein Bros. Bagels
When I don’t feel like cooking on a Saturday morning, nothing is better than ordering a dozen fresh bagels from Einstein Bros. (Clearly, this is a weekend indulgence of mine, so I hit express reorder and it’s at my house in no time.) While I’m waiting, I quickly whip up some scrambled eggs and our “weekend breakfast” is set. It’s the best of both worlds. (And you can bet that when I order bagels, they don’t last very long…so please bear with my stock photo bagel pic! Mine were just as yummy looking.)
