Here at Grubhub, our employees are pretty obsessed with food. Every day, we’re making sure delicious food finds its way to your door…and to ours. Say what? Correct, we too order from Grubhub (so meta).
With our “What I Ate in a Week” series, you’ll get a sneak peek into the lives of actual — never not hungry — Grubhub team members. A nice benefit that happens to come with our jobs is what we call “mealperks” — our weekly Grubhub stipend. Clearly, we’re using this to get the best bites in town each and every week.
On deck, we have: Vinaya, a Marketing Analyst at Grubhub. Get the lowdown on her delivery highlights of the week and top ordering hacks.
Let’s meet Vinaya
Hi! I’m Vinaya. Born and bred in Mumbai, India, I moved to several cities within the country before ending up at Indiana University for grad school three years ago, and since then lived briefly in New York and now Chicago. Somewhere between Chinese takeout and bubble tea in my college town to the signature deep dish Pizza in Chicago, my taste buds evolved.
My meat-loving friends often bring my “exploration” of food into question since I am a vegetarian (no eggs either!). I was always concerned when I moved if I would be able to get enough food options considering my many dietary restrictions. To my pleasant surprise–from the small towns to the big cities–I wasn’t at all short of options. Once I joined Grubhub, I had all the more reason to explore the many many options I had. This week, most of my meals had rice in all its different forms (yep, more carbs please).
And here are my top delivery eats from last week…
Rice Bowl from Moti Café
One of my new discoveries (around the block from where I live) is this new place that opened up in River North called Moti Cafe. It’s a new Indian street food café (Chicago’s first ever)… and I was super excited to try it out. I ordered on Grubhub for pickup on my way home from work and snagged this flavor-packed rice bowl.
Vegetarian Biryani from The Indian Garden
So, my dad’s in town this week and biryani is all-time favorite dish of ours. I got this vegetable biryani for a weekend lunch from the The Indian Garden. The quality and quantity of food here makes it completely worth every penny!
Pho from Green Apple Phoever
Ah, my comfort food on a cold day. Pho is something I don’t order all the time… but when I do, it’s so worth it. The kind of meal that’s just right, calm and delicious, filling, but still light! Green Apple Phoever is definitely one of my go-to spots in Chicago for pho.
Avocado Maki from Hot Woks and Cool Sushi
When I’ve had a really big breakfast and want a really light lunch–Avocado Maki from Hot Woks and Cool Sushi is the perfect little meal I crave! It’s generally something I place an express reorder for since it’s my go-to pick when I can’t decide.
