Here at Grubhub, our employees are pretty obsessed with food. Every day, we’re making sure delicious food finds its way to your door…and to ours. Say what? Correct, we too order from Grubhub (so meta).
With our “What I Ate in a Week” series, you’ll get a sneak peek into the lives of actual — never not hungry — Grubhub team members. A nice benefit that happens to come with our jobs is what we call “mealperks” — our weekly Grubhub stipend. Clearly, we’re using this to get the best bites in town each and every week.
On deck, we have: Alisha, a Corporate Care Specialist at Grubhub. Get the lowdown on her delivery highlights of the week and top ordering hacks.
Hello! My name is Alisha I was born in Dallas but consider myself an Austinite since I’ve lived here the longest. With that being said, Dallas & Austin both have an awesome food scene and I’m all about checking it out. I am a complete foodie and who lives on Yelp and will try anything once! Both of my parents loved cooking and exploring food from other countries so I’ve tried many different international cuisines growing up. If you’re ever in Austin I could definitely give you some advice on where to go!
And here are my top delivery eats from last week…
Chicken 65 from Himalaya Kosheli Neplai & Indian Restaurant
Let’s break down the Chicken 65, it’s: cubed chicken marinated in ginger-garlic paste and deep-fried in a spicy sauce with fragrant basmati rice, peas, carrots, green onions, and bell pepper. Nepalese and Indian cuisines are two of my favorite types of food to eat. I love the bold flavor of the spices and aromatic flavors of the rice that Himalaya Kosheli Nepali & Indian Restaurant uses for all of their dishes.
Spider Roll, Harumaki & Miso Soup from Nagoya Steak and Sushi
This plate is an amalgamation of my favorite things: fried snow crab spring rolls served with sweet lime-chili sauce, a spider roll (fried soft shell crab), and fresh cucumber served with ponzu sauce. Nagoya has a vast menu with LOTS to choose from which should explain my plate…
Samosa & Kibbeh from Davod’s Mediterranean Market
Meet these fried beauties: kibbeh, a deep-fried patty consisting of ground beef, rice, onions, and celery served with tzatziki and samosas, a fried pocket with spiced potatoes, onions, peas and lentils. I frequent Davod’s Mediterranean Market more than I care to admit; it’s definitely my go-to when I’m being indecisive. What makes Davod’s interesting is it also serves as a market, which is right up my alley!
The Dragon Smoothie Vitality Bowls
This smoothie–packed with pitaya, guava juice, strawberries, mango & raspberries–is the stuff dreams are made of! They have a wide selection of smoothies to fit any need as well as sandwiches and healthy bowls. I order from Vitality Bowls when I don’t know what I want but I know I want something HEALTHY. Smoothies so good you would swear it’s unhealthy!
Korean Fried Chicken from Donkey Mo’s
The fried chicken from Donkey Mo’s is tossed in a soy garlic sauce, served with Asian slaw, pickled daikon, and fries. I actually like every flavor they have to offer. Prop tip: the Asian slaw and the pickled daikon serve as a palette cleanser since the wings can be spicy. Donkey Mo’s is the first kind of Korean fried chicken I’ve ever had any other place has some big shoes to fill! The most interesting thing to me is the fact that this is inside a mall food court. Just goes to show fine dining can be anywhere as long as there’s passion in the kitchen
