What I Ate in a Week: Ashley’s Food Diary

Here at Grubhub, our employees are pretty obsessed with food. Every day, we’re making sure delicious food finds its way to your door….and to ours. Say what? Correct, we too order from Grubhub (so meta).

With our “What I Ate in a Week” series, you’ll get a sneak peek into the lives of actual — never not hungry — Grubhub team members. A nice benefit that happens to come with our jobs is what we call “mealperks” — our weekly Grubhub stipend. Clearly, we’re using this to get the best bites in town each and every week.

On deck, we have: Ashley, a Restaurant Sales Executive on our Outbound Sales Team. Get the lowdown on her delivery highlights of the week and top ordering hacks.

Meet Ashley.

Hello hello! My name is Ashley and I am currently working in Grubhub’s Chandler, Arizona office. I joined the outbound sales team quite recently in February.

I am an Arizona native and have extremely random interests–I love trying new things and I have tons of hobbies. I love cooking and baking, as well as photography, hiking and traveling. I have a boxer dog named Buddha and I am quite literally obsessed with him. As for food…I’d say my favorites are pizza, mac and cheese and sushi. I also have a pizza tattoo–so you know the love is real.

And here are my top delivery eats from last week…

Turkey Burger from Red Robin

I could not decide if I wanted a crispy chicken sandwich or a turkey burger. I decided to go with the healthier option…but then I added bacon. I was recently a vegetarian so getting back into eating meat has been an interesting and yummy transition. It’s nice when restaurants such as Red Robin have so many convenient options whether I’m in the mood for veggie, chicken, fish or beef–I can get any burger I want.

My turkey burger and fries was absolutely delicious. The fries were crispy and Red Robin includes a packet of their special seasoning so you can as little or much as you want. I used my Grubhub meal perks, placed a pick up order and was in and out in under two minutes. Score!

Philly cheesesteak from Forefathers

So I took a look at my email and there it was: my next meal begging me to order it. As a Grubhub diner, you receive emails with new restaurants in the area that were recently added to the Grubhub network. I decided to take advantage of this and try one out! Forefathers Cheesesteaks did not disappoint. My Philly cheesesteak was perfectly seasoned and deliciously cheesy.

I try to come up with an effective strategy when placing an order for lunch since this is one of the busiest times for both pickup and delivery. I tried to beat the lunch rush, so I placed my order early. To my pleasant surprise–my food arrived a few minutes early. Forefathers: you have a very bright future and you can have my business any time.

Stuffed French Toast from IHOP

Everything in me said I should just get up and make breakfast, but I couldn’t do it. My boyfriend recently had knee surgery so leaving the house was not really an option. I pulled up my Grubhub app, typed in breakfast and there IHOP was waiting for us.

There was a picture of stuffed french toast that immediately caught my attention. Photos, advertisements, commercials, and ads were all created for people like me. I didn’t know what I wanted until I saw it but as soon as I did I knew I had to have it. The french toast is stuffed with cream cheese filling and then topped with strawberries and vanilla sauce. Perfect way to start my Sunday.

Chicken and cookies from Native Grill & Wings

When you’re young, your parents tell you that you have to eat all your food before you can have dessert. Well, as an adult, you are able to eat anything you want, any time you want. So, take that mom! (Actually, please don’t tell her I’m eating my cookie first.) I had a quick errand to run so ordering for pickup on Grubhub made perfect sense. There was a Native Grill & Wings nearby–a restaurant I know quite well. Native is known for their wings and pizza, but today I was in the mood for their chicken strips (with buffalo sauce)  as well as a chocolate chip cookie (it was even still gooey in the middle).

When I arrived at Native, the bartender had everything perfectly packaged and waiting for me. It’s always hard for me to decide what I want to eat and Grubhub has honestly made it so much easier for me. I see it, I choose it, and either pick it up or sit back and wait for my lovely delivery driver to arrive.

Tune in next week for the latest edition of “What I Ate in a Week.” Will it make you hungry? Probably...but, we can help with that.
