You Donated the Change—Here’s How it Helped

1 in 7 children in America lives with hunger, but this is a solvable problem. Grubhub and No Kid Hungry are working together to ensure that all children get the three meals a day they need to grow up healthy, educated and strong. Thanks to the support of Grubhub users, No Kid Hungry is ending childhood hunger by helping launch and improve food programs that feed kids like school breakfast, afterschool and summer meals. And coupled with No Kid Hungry’s local partnerships and advocacy efforts, the organization is ending childhood hunger, one community at a time. By choosing to Donate the Change, Grubhub users are providing kids with meals that help them reach their full potential. So far, Grubhub users have donated as many as 90,000,000 meals!

Wonder how donating your change helped in the fight to end childhood hunger?

Your change helped No Kid Hungry connect kids to the food they need

No Kid Hungry drives social change in communities across the country by developing, sharing and implementing a replicable “blueprint” for ending childhood hunger. The organization works to remove barriers so that all children can access programs like school breakfast, summer and afterschool meals. Last year, a school district in Illinois served an additional 79,500 breakfasts, and a school in Texas served 178,000 additional afterschool meals thanks in part to your contributions. By working with communities to expand and improve existing programs, kids have access to the food they need to succeed.

Your change promoted partnerships with communities

By forging strong partnerships with community organizations, educators and businesses, No Kid Hungry invests in the infrastructure to end childhood hunger in all 50 states. These relationships help them share learnings, research and best practices from across the nation. The 2019 School Breakfast Leadership Institute brought together education, nutrition and government leaders from a number of states to work together on strategies to feed more hungry kids.

Your change supported No Kid Hungry as they advocated for change

No Kid Hungry educates and garners support from local, state and national leaders to deliver on bold strategies that provide better access to meal programs while advocating for critical policy changes to ensure thousands more children in need are receiving healthy meals every day. Last year in New York City, No Kid Hungry worked with Mayor de Blasio and the City Council to restore $6 million to the city’s budget to support and improve breakfast in the classroom programs.
